In the past few years, the AI market in Taiwan has evolved from "embracing AI" to "move with AI". Companies know how to transform scattered data into valuable information to become an useful tool for business applications. However, the most difficult part of data application is not to carry out computational analysis, but to bring more innovative insights to enterprises. Taiwan Data Science Co. (TDSC) in the Startup Terrace Linkou has transformed from a traditional data company to a large data analysis system integrator in three years. It is also specialized in big data security and robotic process automation (RPA), creating a new blue ocean in the AI market.
To become a system integrator in big data analysis, one must differentiate itself from other traditional data companies. It must be able to not only collect data, but also access powerful analysis and computing software, while combining diversified hardware systems. On top of that, system integrator must also have the know-hows from different industries in order to provide complete AI solutions to the industry. The depth of such technology is no smaller than that of traditional SI companies. As for TDSC, our practical experience in analyzing complicated data for government projects, finance industry, mobile payment, smart retailing, and telecommunications has become the best niche to transform from SI to AI.
AI Core Technology Focuses on Customer/Information Flow Analysis and Smart Retail
Taiwan Data Science was founded in 2017. During the first year of its establishment, the Company focused on applying for and implementing governmental cooperation projects, such as collaborating with Chunghwa Telecom and the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs to conduct the "Cashless College Project". In addition, the Company utilized its expertise in mobile payment to engage in the micro-unmanned store. Through the installation of IoT (Internet of Things) vending machines, multiple payment POS and customer/information flow antennas, the goals of mobile payment popularization and smart retail can be achieved.
Another strength of TDSC is the integration of financial media to develop AI forecasting platform. TDSC adopts mathematical models to analyze patent databases in different countries and finds clues to predict the future trend of the stock market. API is then used to connect with securities, investment trust, and investment advisory companies. This offers users a practical tool for predicting the development of the stock market, assisting their investment decisions.
Turn the Big Data Mining into Potential Business Opportunities
TDSC, which focuses on data analysis and customer flow analysis, has made major breakthroughs this year. The person in charge of the Company, Dr. Ying-Chiang Cho, explained that “When we started doing AI two years ago, we did not rush to determine our business model in the market. However, by collecting large amount of data, we found the potential business opportunities that our competitors had not discovered in the past. This year, the data have been analyzed by powerful AI computation and hidden business opportunities are beginning to emerge, making the market to pay attention to this application."
Dr. Ying-Chiang Cho said that in the process of implementing major projects, we have accumulated millions of entries of data from hundreds of IoT devices for AI analysis. We found that when different combinations of products are sold together, sales volume will rise. Through comparison and analysis, traditional IoT devices can be made smarter. Based on various AIOT technologies, sellers can know the selling status of the equipment to make appropriate decisions.
For example, the Customer Flow Analysis System of TDSC has helped the Taipei City Government and the Freeway Bureau evaluate the potential consumption power of the shopping areas in Taipei and the highway service areas, respectively based on the analysis of traffic flow, customer flow, and the time people spent after entering the shopping areas and stores. The analysis can quantify business opportunities, providing better decision-making and more accurate marketing strategies. As for the crowds in exhibitions, analysis of customer flow can serve as a reference for epidemic prevention. The customer flow analysis technology adopted by TDSC is based on signal collection method, which has high recognition rate and will not violate the requirement in personal information protection. With this technology, TDSC not only has won several large smart traffic and smart city projects from the government, but also has strengthened its industrial integration capability this year to open up new doors in different markets.
TDSC is positioned as a "system integrator in data analysis." This year, the Company has made many major breakthroughs from the deployment of diversified antenna patents, retail and telecommunications to manufacturing. It also engages in and focuses on the technology robotic process automation (RPA). The phrase "from SI to AI" is no longer a slogan.
AI Army with Strong Technology Forms Alliances to Engage in Information Security Big Data and Process Automation
Dr. Ying-Chiang Cho has served as a professor at National Chung Cheng University and Taipei Medical University. He has worked as the Chief Strategy Officer for the Alliance Digital Technology Co., which is a company co-invested by the National Development Council and the five major telecommunication companies in Taiwan. He has conducted large national projects for the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, accumulating substantial experience. This year, with the encouragement of the Board of Directors and shareholders, TDSC made a strategic investment in UniForce Technology to step into AI information security big data. UniForce Technology is a well-known information network infrastructure manufacturer in Taiwan and offers products from F5, Check Point, and Arista Network, which are all internationally renowned brands. Through the resources of the strategic alliance, new doors to smart manufacturing and smart automation with huge business opportunities were opened up.
The R&D team of TDSC has noticed that in recent years, smart automation has become popular worldwide. The strength of robotic process automation (RPA) is that it can perform well in any IT environment and conduct virtualized work in the background of the computer. That is to say that repetitive but logical tasks in the future will be replaced by RPA. This year, TDSC began to apply AI technology to process automation. This is like the giant yellow robotic arms in a factory, converting labor-intensive and highly repetitive work into automatic processes, thereby changing the speed of decision-making for companies and allowing professionals to have more time and energy to do other professional work.
This year is the third year of TDSC since its establishment. Ying-Chiang Cho emphasized that they will integrate AI and 5G closely to bring customer/information flow antennas and process automation into the industries where they are appropriate. TDSC is nourished by the Startup Terrace Linkou with rich talents and abundant innovative energy, hoping to form alliances with many partners to cultivate the AI market and seize opportunities.
